Not a huge fan of the c claps. Started bending my bed rail and felt i could keep going for day's. Its toght though. Is the nut supposed to be towards the bottom of the clamp?

can you go back by and do an update video on this? i share the concern of the other commenter. . . kinda seems steep for a knock off post & beam . . . half the wood hang'n in that is decorative at best and some of the critical joints appear to be dangerous jokes. . .i wanna see how it's endured just out of sheer curiosity because again as the other commenter pointed out it seems a bit steep vs the quality. . . looks nice, you guys knocked it out i'm sure the way they designed it just say'n :)

Hi, what's the best way to connect the new to the old? Do we need to lap plates, extend joists into old, etc or is it enough to nail face to face and lap sheathing

This is all excellent, apart from the safety concern for the gentleman doing this work. Working on his own walking on walls and trusses up high, it takes a second of lack of attention and dizziness to put him off balance. In my country we build stone/brick walls and concrete roofs, so all this looks rather flimsy to me, and a great fire hazard. It takes great faith to rely on those flat metallic parts to join/hold those truss members together, I just wonder how they hold when the wood ages and dries, and flexes . I lack experience in how those trusses hold the compression and tension members together, They would not be accepted in making wooden spars for aircraft!

If painting, prime those knots with an oil based primer or Shellack to keep the resin from bleeding through

The vast majority of people who attempt to ding projects like this themselves will end up with a result they will not be happy with, or decide to hire a contractor in the end. I see it often.

I’m adding a bigger bathroom to my house and a extra living room. It’s going to be a challenge and take a while but ima get it done. I’m doing 10ft ceilings though while the rest of the house is 8ft. I rather the luxary style added on while I update the rest of the home.

The ledge goes all the way around my basement too, 12" wide boards had to get 8 ft long sections the 22' length wall going to need 3 boards connecting to span. Trying to find nicest way to join them

That concrete pour brought shame to this house.

Wonder how this is working 3-years later. Can you share? I've been watching lots of tips out there and they say to use non-woven filter fabric create a burrito wrap with rocks and pipe in it. The fabric would protect the pipe from dirt eventually seeping through the rocks and clogging your pipe. Did your system fail? I installed one before with the weed barrier and it sort of failed, but went ahead and removed the weed fabric and it was like magic! It worked great... Let me know....
